Well wwbw has an outlet sale now and they've got a bunch of new baris in the appx $2000 range including:

Jupiter 593
Amati 61/62
Selmer 156
Allora (no model name)

I was wondering if this might be the way to go, or whether I should go vintage?

I would be doubling, well actually, tripling on Bari. Primarily rock & roll.

My other horns (alto, tenor) are all pro level vintage.

Thoughts? I've already checked out junkdude and he has a number of Bueschers in this price range, too.

I would go vintage and i have a true tone bari thats superb. If your used to vintage then thats the way to go and they will keep their value. Check that junkdude's bari's go to high F as the earlier ones went to Eb

I agree with Dave. A vintage bari will hold it's value and a new one will almost definately depreciate.

Dave and Tophatsax are right. Vintage will keep its value should you need to sell it in the future. Junkdude has a good reputation on SOTW.

Some people will tell you that for rock & roll, you need a low A baritone to get the low C concert when needed. The Bueschers don't have that low A but have everything else - sound, projection, etc. - over the >$2K baritones listed.

A couple of repair techs I know told me that Amati should never, ever be an option for anyone!
