Hi Mauriat lovers!!!

I just got my PMST66 (Dark/Vintage Lacquer) Tenor today!!!

Wow! So much better than my MARK VI. Couldn't believe it.

May I know which polishing/cleaning cloth should I be using on this sax?

I'm talking about Yamaha/Selmer cloth for Lacquer OR Silver horns? I'm afriad I'll scratch the surface if I use the wrong one.

Pls help.

What?! You mean you're supposed to clean your horn?

Man, if you're that afraid of scratching it, take my advice. Reach right now into your pocket and pull out your keys. Now. Rake 'em over your sax near the neck strap hook. Now it's over and you don't have to worry any more about scratches. Saves you weeks and weeks of anxiety trying to avoid what is inevitable anyway. Saw a guy do it with his new Mercedes. Took away a lot of stress. :D

I mainly use the one that comes with the horn. I also use a standard cloth (not the special silver ones).

Funny thing Gary. I used to know this b***hy girl who drove a new lexus. One day someone raked the hood and the sides up pretty bad. It definately took away alot of stress... about $3000 worth. (and no... it wasn't me:twisted: )

Seriously though. I've had my horn for over a month. The first week I would be cleaning every little spot I could. but now, I just swab the insides and give the horn a quick wipe and back in the case it goes :)

The finish really is scratch resistant in my experience. I basically never clean my horn and just put it back on the stand after practicing. I'll use a rolling paper and lighter fluid to do a quick clean on a sticky pad but I don't pay attention to the outside of the horn. It still looks great and once I get some leaks fixed will play like it did when I bought it from Tim back in July?? It is a good horn. K

Thanks Daktion and Keith!!!

That is what I meant. I just wanted to know do I need a "special" cloth just to do the usual wiping down before keeping it in the case.

Gary,
Thanks for your humourous response too. Maybe some people don't give much attention to such things...but basically I've been giving my horns a good/usal/normal wipe-down before I keep them in the cases, after playing.

That's how I treat things I love and treasure. I don't know about some other people, though.

It's not so much the "stress"...it's giving your beloved horns the respect they deserve.
