Get in touch with Dave at www.junkdude.com. He is just east of Columbus OH, and a really good man to work with.

I have hooked up several guys from SOTW. Check with George Prewett at Alabama Music Center. He is a great old player, and a heck of a nice guy.
(205) 620-0062. Tell him I sent you, and he'll treat you right.

The Sax Shop (in skokie, IL) is now selling the P.Mauriat saxes. Bob Black is with P. Mauriat in their booth at the Midwest Band and Orchestra clinic (in Chicago Wed-Fri). Call the sax shop at 847-673-3812, talk to Bob or Denny. Be sure to tell them that I sent you.

Hey thanks everyone for your help. I did some checking and I found a great dealer in Yankton South Dakota of all places...not too far from where I live. The guy I talked to is Chris, and he was extremely helpful. I think the name of the store is Mollet Music.

Now I must decide whether to go with rolled tone holes or not. I am looking at an alto. Any thoughts on rolled tone holes? I know the rolled tone hole model is a little more money, but does anyone think it is worth it on the alto (PMSA-67 or PMXA-67R).

Thanks everybody...this is a great site!

hi bigmills

if you look down a couple threads you will see my review on the 67R. The RTH imo are definately worth the extra $$. It's very very nicely done and is actually rolled and not just a ring being attached on. However, I've heard that rth has a higher tendency for sticky pads. my G# had this problem but after some TLC is working perfectly.

I heard that the RTH is less focused in sound than the non RTH. I guess the best bet is to play both side by side..... and pick the one that feels better for you.

I believe that the "R" models also have a larger bow section, so it's not just the tone holes that are different.

I preferred the non rolled tone holes for a more focused tone. And Tim at Sax alley did a great job of set up> K

Keith, I just stopped by your web page and listened to a few of your sound clips. Your P Mauriat clips sound great but I was really impressed with your Martin recording of "When I Fall I Love"! Do you prefer the Mauriet sound over your Martin? That is one of the purest "tenor" sounds I've heard on a local recording in a while. Just interested in your opinion.
