I'm looking over at ebay and recently the Buescher c tenors (the ones which will need an overhaul and have the ability to look good afterwards) have ended in the $200-350+ range. However these are all with s/n less than 200xxx. How much would you price a c tenor with a 200xxx + s/n?
oh yes... if the sax came with all the orig accessories as well.
Thanks

Buescher " c-tenors with a 200xxx + s/n? " don't come up that often on ebay. They have front-f, longer RH palm keys, and a decent pinkie table - very nice players. But if they do, unless the seller really points the features out - they don't seem to fare much better on ebay than the early ones.
Here's a nice gold-plated one, s/no 232K, you can still see traces of the burnished gold on the action. That sold for around $200, listed as brass, and with quite new snap-ins... I've deliberately priced it very high because I want to keep it - but then something has to pay the bills....
Enjoy the pics.

Good Luck, see you in the next Buescher C-Mel bidding scrum....

I scored a closet mint silver 256k C with all the goodies - including a virtually unused Buescher mouthpiece - for $750 on eBay a few years back. I'd thought it was a Bb tenor until it arrived!

My 'new' C tenor is a 113xxx serial. Silver over gold. The springs are sharp (still healing the holes in my fingers from the long rag job cleaning it up). It was black when I got it locally for $100. I have $500 in it now, and I may never get that back. It sounds fine. Intonation is a bit sharp up high with the stock piece. It is sharp all over if I play an alto MPC. I'll try the Runyon C soon.

thanks for the answer guys. I recently scored a 226xxx silver buescher c mel myself. I knew about the "add-ons" with the later models so I knew a 200xxx was more desirable. I had bought a 138k c mel earlier so I can compare the two in terms of sound, intonation, and overall feel. However, I did end up paying a couple hundy more for the 200xxx so I was just wondering how much more elusive were these 200xxx + c mels.... especially in terms of value.
Btw cmelodysax, I'm one of those 231 unique visitors that frequently stop by your site. It really is a great resource for c tenors so I'm thankful that you took the time to put up so much info. As for future 200xxx c mels on ebay... I'll leave that up to you to bid on :)

Thanks Daktion - the site isn't quite there yet, but it's a long winter, so who knows ? I'm really a Martin addict, so the Bueschers are a (nice) diversion, but then again so are the Kings.....
I'll pass on collecting Conn C-Mels, nothing against them, my Conn C-Soprano really is good - despite some comments on other topics about their bad intonation !
Kind Regards, Alan.

I knew someone must own that one Conn C soprano that was in tune! Need a case for it?

Not at the moment Bruce - thanks tho'. Strangely enough I've never seen a C-Soprano on ebay without a case, their cases seem to have survived better than a lot of the C-mel ones. Maybe, being smaller, they were 'tucked away' in warmer and drier places....?
