Does anyone happen to know anything about a Conn B 10M High F (supposedly pro-model) from 1982-89 Serial #754311. Seller asking $1100 for it, wondering if I would be wasting my time to even look at it.
I am trying to upgrade from a Yamaha YTS-23 student model -which I'm sure this would be an upgrade from that, but is it really worth 1,100??
Seller says a technician told them it was actually worth $1124.
Thanks for any info anyone can give.

Lisag,
Unless your Yamaha is in terrible condition it is the superior horn.
You need a new tech.
Keep honkin'

On the contrary, any tech that is that precise about the worth obviously has an eye for detail!!!

A Conn from the 1980s is not one of their best horns. I suggest you look for an earlier vintage 10M rather than a UMI made Conn. Vintage 10ms from the 30s-50s often sell for $2000 or more. You can find some nice 1950s 10Ms for less, and I think you would find these to be of much better quality than your YTS 23 or the 1980s Conn. Keep your eyes open for Conn's made right after they stopped rolling tone holes. (Serials 326,xxx and higher). They are still very good horns but not quite as resonant as the earlier 10Ms. If you are interested in more info please contact me at VintageSax@aol.com.
