I bought a Vespro Alto sax in ebay on February. It's odd because it looks almost identical to my friend's barry that is of an entirely different brand. Anyway I've been doing research but I haven't been able to find anything on Vespro saxes online.

Stick with it. One heck of a sax. My friend has one.

Those saxophones are mass produced in a factory in some Asian country (eg: Taiwan. I've been to one of those factories). They stamp different brand names on the bell after the assembling is finished. Vespro or Monique, they're all the same.
By the way, the Vespro is one heck of a god-awful sax.

Colibri, did you at least played one? With the mindset like yours I find it ridiculous to ask. Seems like you have this prejudice about Asian-made saxes and your statement shows it. Let me REPEAT, have YOU played one?

Ronnie,
Yes I have played one. In fact I played five of them. I'm not against Asian horns. You've never seen me bashing Cannonballs, have you? Have you been to the Taiwanese factories and see how the saxophones were assembled and finished? Have you played any other horns besides Asian ones to compare their quality? Do you have the experience to support your judgement?
Let me repeat. I played FIVE.

i played a tenor in highschool, a week after it was purchased the lower stack fell off. when it warmed up it sounded like i was playing an aluminum can with quirky intonation. but hey, they're cheap!

My apologies, if I offended you, Colibri. I've been to Japan and China a few times on a business trip and tested a few myself. This was late last year. I felt like they were getting better in time. It is still a learning process for them. The work environment has improved due to people like us. They are sensitive to our comments and welcomes every opportunity to improve on their products. I don't know if this is true, I heard Selmer is planning to do business with one of the Asian firms there. If it is true, it may offend the purists but others would welcome the opportunity. In the end it is approaching a better level in terms product quality. And Selmer recognizes this.
