Hi Everyone!
When i brought my Mark VII alto a few months ago I got 2 cases with it. One of these is a no name contoured case, but the other is a Selmer case. The thing that got me thinking is that it might not be the case from a Mark VII. I saw a case like it with a Super Ballanced Action on ebay today. The case is Red with a black border (which is stictched on). Inside the case it is not shaped like the bell (I dont know how to describe it, but like the bottom is a flat surface, it doesnt form around the sax like the newer cases do).
Anyway, I am wondering if it is worth selling by itself if it is from the 40s or 50s? If anyone has any ideas on if it is from before the 70s it would be great if you could leave a post with your thoughts.
Rock On

There is something weird going on...I used to have my e-mail address show up all the time on all of my posts. I just noticed that it is not on the post that I left here earlier. And when I went to your profile, your e-mail address was not there either.

Anyway...please contact me at...

I used to have an old selmer hard case from France. It was textured grey w/thin black lines outside, and fed velvet inside. The lid had a 'safety' strap at the side so it wouldn't open all the way. A bit of a pain, 'cuz I had to wedge the case up when I opened it. Neat case. Well made.

I bought my VII alto new through an authorized Selmer dealer in the US. It's American assembled, lacquered and engraved with lacquer around the edges of the pads. The original case is a dark green tray-pac case trimmed in black with brass hardware. Has inner case for clarinet and flute compartment. These cases were probably used for very late MKVI's, VII's and early SA80I's. If your VII is French lacquered & engraved it no doubt has a different case. Mine is in the 255xxx range.
