I think it would be great if we could have a sub-forum solely dedicated to saxophone effects-growl, flutter tone, note bending, etc.

I tend to think this is covered in our various TECHNIQUE areas, but I'lll poll-ize your post.

I voted "yes" before I read CMel's post (Turkey daze, I guess). I thought that the question was should we have a forum for ELECTRONIC effects on the sax when recording or performing, i.e. what type, how much, settings, etc., for reverb, echo, compression, chorus, EQ, etc, etc. It seems hard to understand how to tweak all the various effects unless you are a recording engineer or something!

Anyways - I don't really think we need a forum on the type of effects you are talking about... there's lots of existing threads on it, and if in doubt, just get John Laughter's book!

I vote No, for the same reason that saxismyaxe did. :)

I know it is currently covered in the Technique forum, but I think it would be nice to have a separate forum for sax effects.

Nay. These type effects can be filed and asked in several existing forums.

My problem is that there aren't enough posts currently to really warrant one. Someone will ask a question about it maybe once every two weeks. I just don't think that that kind of activity (or inactivity rather) warrants it's own special forum. If there were one post per day, or every other day... I'd be more willing to give it a go.

Not needed. As saxpics points out, this belongs in Tips and Techniques or Tone Producing, as well as in the new Beginner forum under Embouchure & Tone Producing Basics. That's already 3 forums, that's plenty.

Not only no but NO.

IMO there are already too many subforums. Either that, or it's time to create sub-forums for Alexander Reeds, JAVA Reeds, Selmer C* mouthpieces and Are Mark VI's Really Worth IT? 8-)

What Pete Gaylord said.

Most of what C-mel talks about is covered under techniques, but using electronic enhancement is so broad I think it would make for a worthy forum.
