I am sure this question has been asked before but I entered "neck alignment" into search and got no response. I had no problem with my vintage Conn. The alignment was just where you would expect it to be, but my Yas-275 feels out of place to me when I align the neck in the obvious position. My question is - is it "allowed" to turn the neck into the most comfortable position for oneself. I don't want to get into a bad habit.

I think it may depend on if you play alto in the "between the legs" position or off to the side like a tenor.

When I play tenor I rotate the neck slightly to the left. It gives me a more comfortable position for playing.

I'll rotate it slighty to the left on alto too if I'm playing it more like my tenor or just leave it in the middle if I'm in the mood to keep it in front.

I'd suggest setting the neck in a position that's comfortable for you as long as it doesn't compromise the function of the octave key.

Make it comfortable. You'll play better if you're comfortable. As long as you arent turning the neck to an extreme you'll be ok
