As you’ve probably noticed, we’ve created a new Beginner area, which is organized into sub-categories to facilitate navigation and help find what you are looking for easily - A great big thanks to saxismyaxe and thesonandall for helping moving the threads.

The new sub-categories are:

Announcements and FAQ
This area is for announcements and Frequently Asked Questions regarding the New Beginner Forum.

General Discussion
What it says: General Discussion, or if you prefer, any subject that doesn’t fit into any of the below sub-categories

Embouchure & Tone Producing Basics
Here, post questions about anything that has to do with embouchure and tone producing basics. This includes common beginner problems such as with breathing (lacking air), stuffy sound, pain in lips/cheeks/jaw, problems playing low or high notes, problems concerning pitch (too sharp/ too flat) and intonation - Postings regarding any advanced embouchure or tone producing tips and techniques should go in the SOTW Main Tone Producing (http://forum.saxontheweb.net/forumdisplay.php?f=61) and Tips and Techniques (http://forum.saxontheweb.net/forumdisplay.php?f=59) Forums.

Recommended Listening for Beginners
What it says: listening material recommendation.

Training Material
Post any question here about training/practicing. This includes saxophone methods, exercises, scale practicing, questions regarding fingerings, muscal theory and terminology, etc... -- Postings concerning jazz improv and other advanced methods should go in Websites, Books,Magazines, Photos and other Litterature (http://forum.saxontheweb.net/forumdisplay.php?f=66).

What to Buy & Why: Mouthpieces
This is area is an “Everything Beginners want to know about mouthpieces” area; Questions about mouthpiece recommendation for beginners, tip opening, available brands, etc – For questions regarding professional mouthpiece or “specialty” mouthpieces (e.g.: what mpc is good for altissimo) please refer to the Main SOTW Mouthpiece Forum (http://forum.saxontheweb.net/forumdisplay.php?f=6)–No sales posts allowed.
