I use mostly HR unless I'm in a band with an electric guitar. On Tenor I use either a Meyer 9 or a Rousseau JDX 8, both refaced by Jon Van Wie.

Chamber and baffle design and the player are more important for the sound than the material of the mouthpiece. Anyway, what would I answer? I play metal on tenor, hard rubber on soprano, alto and bari, playing bari and tenor the most. So my answer must be: both.

I'll use either metal or rubber, depending more on the venue more than style of music.
i use a nickel meyer 8 quite often on alto.
actually, my primary classical mpc on alto is an old metal classical selmer C* which i love...

Rubber on alto. Colibri,I don't use metal because the ones I've tried all squeak more frenquently than rubber or plastic.

I believe it's the bad finishing of the mouthpiece that makes them squeak. Nevertheless, I heard people saying an alto with a metal mouthpiece has not soul in the sound.

I should play wood or crystal on Bari, just to complete the set...

David Sanborn plays a Dukoff. I play a D7 on alto. I sound similar to Sanborn....wonder why?

I like a variation of different materials just as a artist has more than one color, I like hard rubber, crystal, metal and wood I just use them differently at different times when appropriate.

i used to be a metalhead, but now i use HR exclusively. I only play tenor, so it simplifies things.
