Has anyone ever seen Mark VI engraved above the octave key? I own a Vintage 1960 US assembled Mark VI. Any info appreciated...

You should probably post this in the Selmer (Paris) folder.

RBK,

Yes, I have seen Mark VI's with the 'Mark VI' engraving near the octave key rather than on the bell to bow ring. It seems to me that the ones I have seen engraved in this location are earlier Mark VI's...I don't recall ever seeing one engraved that way as late as 1960. But you say that you have one...so I can't argue with that !!!

There's one on ebay now with a photo of the octave key :

My VI is from 1960 and it also has "Mark VI ®" next to the octave key and not on the bell to bow ring. I believe that this marking lasted through most of the 5 digit horns and I know for sure that it was gone by the time they hit 100XXX. I think that the disappearance also coincided with the disappearance of the french on the bell with the "brevete france & etranger" and the "fabrique en france"
