I just visited to this site (Through Jeff Kashiwa's homepage). When I look at the advertisement for the Chicago Jazz saxophone, I wonder all are same with Dave Guardala. I think it should be made by VMI in Germany. But I'm not sure all the design is same as pervious Guardala horn ?

Anybody try Chicago Jazz horn before?

Anybody knows Dave Guardala Black Nickel tenor is base on which B&S model - Medusa 2000 or 2001 ?

I tried out a Chicago alto with the rep present. Yes, it's made by B&S and yes they are using the stuff they learned in making the Gualrdala saxes.

How does that Chicago Jazz alto sound? Same level with Guardala ?What is the pricing for their tenor (brass & black nikel) ?
Thanks.

They only had the alto, and i have never played a Guardala alto, so i couldn't compare. Though the rep told me they were the same horn. The Chicago line has taken over the Guardala line i guess.

I thought the sound was pretty good, but i thought the horn lacked a "finished product" feel. the edges were sharp and the Eb/C right hand keys were set up really high. It did not feel comfortable. And the price.....much more than a new Yahama 82Z, but not as nice a player.

Son of Zorn: Not a Guardala then. The keywork on my DG-501BN tenor is outstanding, as good or better than my selmer.
