I play on an Artist Series Jupiter Soprano with the original mouthpiece and Vandoren 3s. I can play up to altissimo G using the fork F key only, but i'm having no luck getting anything above that.

Does anyone have any suggested fingerings or things that I should try doing? The fingerings I've tried, just incase are:

G#
-23|-2-
A
-23|---
A#
--3|---
B
D--3|---
C
1-3|1-3 pinkie Eb
or I add the left palm Eb key to the B fingering.

What do you think?

Dood...
Sop is really tough up high.
I find the G works 1-3,1--Eb - If I get it the G# might work adding the side C key.
A -23 works with a good reed on a lunar eclipse when Mars is in retrograde.
If I can get the A, and only then, there is a chance of getting to a C fingering up the palm keys from that overtone.
A -23,---
Bb --3,---
B palm D --3,---
C palm D/Eb --3,---
I don't think I have ever been above that C on purpose. Ever look into a sopranino?

Try a Vintage Buescher, the altissimo always works, even without the Front F key.
Cannonballs and most Taiwanese Sops play altissimo fairly easily too.

Gahh.. I have no more money >.<
The reason I ask is because I just ordered a Clarinet/Oboe duo (Duo, opus 25, by Marion Bauer, anyone?) that I plan on transposing for the soprano and I'm not quite sure how high the oboe goes. So if I can get comfortable up to concert G, I shouldn't be in too bad shape.

Grflblah -- them's ain't good odds. Those are the fingerings I'm comfortable with on Tenor, but my soprano set up just doesn't seem to break into altissimo as easily. I guess it isn't a good sign when altissimo G using the fork F seems insanely stable.

Actually, though, with 1-3|1-3 Eb, I'm able to get a pretty in tune, although weak and choked, altissimo C. Are there any reccomended soprano fingerings for altissimo A at least?

Soprano altissimo is considered animal abuse in half the juristictions in the US, and actionable under civil law in most of the others.

Make sure you can play your overtones (all the way up into the altissimo range) on sop as well as you can on tenor...

The exceptions are several Southern schools where part of your audition involves being asked to "squeal like a pig."

If you're serious about playing altissimo on sop, get Robert Luckey's book. The fingerings he has work great.

BTW, I play a Jupiter Artist model as well. I have no trouble playing up to D4. Any higher is just showing off.

I would suggest that to play high on sop has more to do with air speed and support. If the air is stable then the altissimo will pop out. For A I use same as for alto. E4 and F4 are possible but these notes really do set the local furry creatures going ballistic.
