Hello all,
I was wondering if anybody could tell me what manufacturer made the saxes for FE OLDS back in the 50's. This one was supposedly purchased in 1956. It's an Olds "Ambassador" . On the bell is engraved FE Olds & Son, Fullerton, California. I don't recognize any characteristics of any of the "main" manufacturers from the era. Thanks in advance. Here's the link to the pics.

This horn looks a whole lot like my Silvertone tenor. I believe you have a Buescher stencil. It looks like a Buescher octave mechanism.

From what I have read, the Ambassadors from this time period were either made by Olds or were Martin stencils. However, everyone that I have seen on the net have the soldered tone holes just like the Martins. I have an old Studio model and it has the soldered tone holes. Look at the ones listed on saxpics and they do too. This does look like a Buescher, so apparently Olds had different companies put the Olds name on their horns.

I have a Tenor sax which Ambassador F.E. OLDS & SON on the bell. Below that it says Los Angeles Calif. I was wondering hoe much I could sell this student lvl as I want to put the money I get towards a step up. Any help on the price I could ask would be extremely helpful. It would also help to get some info on the horn... I will try to post some pics.

By The Way, the serial number below the thumb rest is 36146, if that helps at all. Thank you for your time!
