Have bought at least a dozen saxophones over the years. A couple weeks ago. I bought my first brand new saxophone--a Selmer AS - 700 Prelude alto for $400 on e-bay. I tried several altos, including a top of the line Cannonball. It was very heavy. Sounded O K, but it was $2500. I really like this alto. The Prelude is well designed, well build, has good intonation, and a beautiful full tone. I believe that with a decent mouthpiece the Prelude could hold its own with any alto. Has anybody tried one? How about the Prelude tenor?
