They looko bluish green. I think that is very unique. Can anyone comment on them or post some real life pics?

They look to me like dark Opals. Very unique and, to my eye, nice. There are some pics in my post (Mauriat....ref 54...yada yada) in sax vs. sax....hard to see, but you get a glimpse.

From the pic on the PM website, they appear to be abalone pearls....which I have on my JK straight and bari (ala Stephan Boesken).

Morry, is your old PM pearled with white or the abalone?
(still waiting....)

So, they don't come in the colors seen in the pics above on the 67R and 66R?

Mine were white. How's Jason coming with the work?

The last pic I saw, Morry, was simply stunning...he hasn't sent any for a couple of weeks now. Wondering how he is doing.....:?

I agree...
Are you guys speaking of Jason Dumars? I have been trying to get in touch with him to get a price quote on some engraving if I were to purchase a 67R, but it's been 2 weeks with no response.

Yes Jb, we are speaking of Jason.
He does great work and is very trustworthy and reliable.
Just sometimes he drifts incommunicado;)

He will be in touch soon, I am sure, and will be sending great news....

Well, I talked to Sim at Saxalley and they do in fact come with the blue/green colored keys. He is going to be sending me a pic of them pretty soon.

Has anyone tried the 2006 addition to the catalog? (PMXA-67R alto saxophone) Or has anyone bought this instrument. I am traveling 2 hours from my home town to try one of these horns and I would like to know some feed back before I make the decision of buying this horn.

Also with your comments, could you compare this model to its competitors such as the Ref. 54, a decent, older Mark VI, Keilwerth altos, Yamahas, and the vintage 6m "Naked Lady" alto?

Thanx,
-Josh

Hey Josh, where are you going to try one out?

I'm in the process of possibly buying/shipping a 67R over to Canada.... more opinions from players are definately appreciated :)

Definately try it side by side with the ref and a Z please..... :)

Hello, I saw your post on Saxquest as well, nothing like sotw...

I'm alive! :)

I'm just incredibly swamped doing the Schilke 50th Anniversary Model trumpet (50 of them very, very ornate). If I didn't respond, please send another e-mail to my yahoo mail account: jaydumars@yahoo.com -- sometimes my other address malfunctions.

Randy's PM tenor is going to be February in the saxpics calendar!

For all to enjoy....

If you want some pictures of the Custom Series, check out our website.
http://www.godlyd.no/default.asp?page=61 Yes, I know it's in Norwegain... but...

Click on the pictures and another page is open.

Notice on the the difference between the 67 and the 67R (which we received earlier this year). The bell brace has changed among other things.

enjoy,
deb

JASON is very busy! He told me so while turning down my job! Despite that, he seems like a nice guy and undoubtedly very talented.

Jason contacted me and told me he is now booking for the month of December. I would definitely be willing to wait that long for the work he does. Here are some pics that Tim at Saxalley sent me.

I'm definitely going for the 67R. Not sure if I will do the colored keys, but I definitely think it's unique. I think I liked the look more so in the catalog. I like being different so I may go for that particular one. I got to try to scrounge up the money first.

hmmm I just looked over at Junkdude's website and his 67R doesnt have those turqoise pearls. That's too bad, as I like them but it seems like I'll have just the white plain pearls instead

Also, it seems like none of the engravings in the catalogue made it to the sax....

Yeah man!!! I dig those funky key colors. My 66R just has the white ones. I am glad my 66R doesn't have any factory engraving. Just a nice blank canvas for Jason Dumars to work on. I can't wait to see what Randal's P. Mauriat is gonna look like.

I dont mind not having the engravings.... but am just wondering why they would have them in the catalogue but when the real product is made.... it's different. Sometimes companies charge an extra for the engravings but there is no option here.

My my beef is with the keys really. The turqoise keys are what really makes the sax unique at face value..... just weird that they aren't all the same.

If you guys want to see what I asked Jason to use as a model, do a google image search for "Mucha dancing girl"

Take a look and it will make you appreciate Jason's talent even more!

whow.... jason you did an even better job than I thought. Not only can you mimic the flair of the picture but you made her look like she dropped 10-20lbs. Women of the world are gonna be lining up at your door :D
