Hi all,
I'll be getting a Jubilee (sp?) straight sop. sax in pearl silver from Randall soon! Pretty excited, hopefully it'll hold my standard since I'm playing a R&C R1 Jazz curved sop. now and it's wonderful, as well as my Ref. 54 alto.

It would be great if you would give a review, esp. in comparison to your other Italian horn.

I'll definitely do that since it's part of my purchase. The R&C R1 jazz is the best soprano that I've played, and I want to see how the Borgani plays in comparison.

Randall haven't sent me the sax yet :) He said it'll be here (US) by probably Tuesday or Wednesday of next week...

Well the Borgani arrived today... Here is my thought after about 1 hour playing and comparing it with my R&C R1 Jazz curved soprano.

First, the Borgani is very well made, fingering system is comfortable and the action is fast, really fast. It came with a nice case, small, light and "seems" to be secure.

I've played with my current soprano mpc, a Dukoff #5 and with Brancher Jazz reed #2.5. The tone is very sweet, somewhat a little bright (partly from the metal Dukoff.) The low notes pops out easily just like the R1 Jazz; the top notes (high F and above) are a little bit difficult to get comparing to the R1 Jazz but it's not a problem. I've pushed the mpc as far as I could but the notes are a little bit flat from A (with the octive key) up, so I have to lift up a little while playing those notes... I guess I will sand the cork a little more and push the mpc further in.

With a Runyon Quantum 6* and Rico #2.5 reed, I get a little more fuzzy and warmer tone... I like the sweet and "bright" tone that I gets with the Dukoff better... I hope Phil Barone would finish the Comtemporary/Tradition mpc that he's working on for me soon so I can try it with my 2 sops...

Overall, it is a wonderful soprano, I like the tone, the feel and the action of this Borgani as much as my R1 Jazz... Neither of them would become a backup horn, I'm just going to play them according to my mood or the setting or the required music.
