Here's a photo of the LA Sax blue/gold bari that's scheduled to be delivered to me Friday. Not that I'm anxious, or anything like that. Oh no!!

It should go well with my other two LA Saxes.

Nice! When you get it, please tell us how it plays. I've never played an L.A. Sax before. How do your other L.As play?

Nice! When you get it, please tell us how it plays. I've never played an L.A. Sax before. How do your other L.As play?I don't they can be beat for the money, and I've played a lot of different makes and models in the past few years. Basic construction and keywork of the LA-750 alto and LA-850 tenor are the same. Both are solidly built with comfortable ergo's. Saxes triple and more the cost of these have more responsive and quieter key action, IMO, but I can't find much to complain about for my level of weekend warrior playing. Intonation on both is excellent and the tone is pleasing to the ear, my ear anyway.

It's better than I expected. In fact, I used it for a small American Legion Post gig last night in a 15-piece swing band and it played strong, in tune and with a good full tone using a Rousseau Jazz JDX 6 HR piece, Rovner lig and Fibracell reed. One of the guests came up after the gig and asked what kind of instrument it was. When I told her, she said it was one of the most beautiful she had seen. I played Blue Champagne on it, a piece written for baritone sax solo, and got the strongest applause of the evening. So, I guess it's going to be a keeper. I'll need a new case for it though, I don't like the one it came with. It's the original case, but too flimsy for my taste and feeling of security.
