Hi everybody,
I don't know how many singers we have on this forum but if there are any out there you might be able to help me.
I have to audition on Monday evening to sing with a really excellent choir I would very much like to join. My chances don't look too good as they already have enough sopranoes (doesnt every choir you ever tried to join ? It seems being a soprano is a positive liability !) and said they'd only take me on if I was strong enough on theory and reading. Fortunately that's my strong suit, but unfortunately I have had big trouble with my allergies and asthma this week, plus a important gig yesterday with much singing between the saxy bits, and I'm really hoarse and have this dry cough that won't go away and just keeps making the PB worse.
Anybody know of some magical potion that might make it better fast ?
No use telling me not to talk till then, I'm an interpreter !
Thanks !

Never mind now, turns out he wanted people with educated voices, which mine definitely isn't. No time for singing lessons, though, so I'll stick to the choir I'm in now.

Wish I'd found this sooner to help. I'm not trained but I know confidence is everything. Sing when you're shy and your vocal chords will seize up. Sometimes singing for a family member and asking their opinion first can help. If they say you're really good, you know you can go to the audition with pride; if they tell you to keep practicing, don't go to the audition :)

Maybe you can take lessons for future auditions?
