I read a sidebar in Performing Songwriter mag listing musicians who passed in the last 2 years.
James Carter was one name.
Since I don't know of any other "James Carter"'s, could you pls tell me if in fact this is true?
If it isn't the saxophonist, would you pls let me know which other JC it could have been?

Well James Carter just released a new album "Out of Nowhere" in June. It was recorded in May of 2004 so it's definitely not him.

A friend of mine (a great alto player) just saw James live in NYC with Hamiet Blueitt. He said that he was phenomenal and that "Out of Nowhere" is a MUST HAVE.
