Composer/arranger will be at Humber College in Toronto with the Humber College Faculty/Alumni Big Band on Oct. 19/05.
This is a can't miss event - there are 6 sax parts on many of Vince's charts. The section is Mark Promane, Andy Ballantyne, Kirk McDonald, Pat Labarbera, Alex Dean and Merlin Williams.
I'll be playing bari sax, bass sax, bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet and Bb clarinet. There are several charts on the concert with four sops too.

Just a reminder to those of you in Southern Ont/Western NY - this concert is just one week away!
Here's Humber's site with the concert announcement:

You gotta see the bass I'm playing on this gig - a 1913 Conn!

The concert was a total gas to play!
Here's the menagerie of stuff I ended up playing:

cool concert it would seem but too far for me to enjoy. my good friend Sebastian from Toronto went also to this event so maybe he could give a review also. i own several things with Vince Mendoza arranging and conducting big bands and large ensembles. my favorite of all is Spania:Flamenco Jazz... very good...

Hate to say it, but I missed the Alumni concert ... again due to work (ie. poverty). I saw the student band and went to the clinics. Humber routinely has clinics like this with the greatest musicians and composers in the world. Everybody from Maria Schneider, M. Brecker to Sam River and Lee Konitz.
What a school. It's the only reason I could have justified to go into that much debt.
