I'm not sure if the DC models are Taiwan or China made but they have not received very good reviews from the folks here. When it comes to dealing with Dominick's it's definately "buyer beware".

With that being said, I did purchase an Yanagisawa T901 2-3 years ago from him. The price was fair and the transaction was smooth. This was BEFORE he started all his crazy claims and ads full of puffery on eBAy.

hey knightrider-

Welcome to the board! Click on the 'Search' feature in the bar above to find more info on Dominic, DC Pro and Monique saxophones. Here is a thread discussing Dominic offering his store for sale on eBay - http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=26848&highlight=dominic%27s . A lot of red flags.....

If you are looking for a new horn, and are on an extremely limited budget, you might want to check the link above to Kessler & Sons. Their 'Soloist' line has gotten good reviews here, as have the Antigua's and Kessler Custom lines he carries. Don't forget to check the marketplace too - you'll get some great deals there too.

I've delt with both Dominic and with Kessler. I don't think Dominic quite deserves the rap he gets from this board, but I strongly prefer Kesslers. Dave Kessler is a man true to his word. As far as bang for the buck, you can't do much better than the Kessler Custom line of horns.

Dominic deserves EVERY bit of the bad press he has gotten, and more- trust me. :!:

I'll second that statement. I've had more than a handful of friends and acquaintances who have been burned badly by him.

a. The Monique/DC Pro section of this Forum is at http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=244. Quick take: buy yourself a Kessler Custom instead. It has better reviews on our Forum and isn't much more expensive.

b. Dominic put his store up for auction on eBay a little while ago; he says he's retiring (in the ad). Check out http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=26848.

I think that you are better off buying a Yamaha 23 than any of the mentioned horns.

In general, the best advice when buying a new horn is to buy the best / most suitable Selmer Paris, Yamaha, Yanagisawa or Keilwerth that you can afford.

Also, don't purchase from Dominic.

This guy doesnt know the first thing about any instrument let alone saxophones. He is an old school knock on your door in the middle of dinner to sell you a vacumn cleaner slime ball salesman. He is only out for a buck and he doesnt care what type of crap he peddles. He would sell a pile of dung and look the customer straight in the eye and tell them that it is pure gold. As far as I am concerened the guy is a thief. BEWARE!

My first dealings with Dominic were decent. He didn't misrepresent himself and his employees were very helpful. Subsequent dealings (searching the used inventory) were not so great. In short, he's a bit of a mutton head. I think "buyer beware" is a reasonable stance. As for the horns, let's just say they've been digested and passed. If you have your heart set on a plant holder, I have a couple of Bundy bodies I can hook you up with. If you want a good horn, in your area, check out SaxOasis and/or 10mfan. I've dealt with and recommend both. For the money you're considering spending, you could get much more out of a quality used horn.
