hi everybody,
although i'm playing for quite a while (6 years), i haven't figured yet how to stop the pain in the inner lower lip, I don't want to change my embouchure, I think its good, but after 5 hours of practicing its really hurts.
i put some soft paper between the theets and the inner lip, but than the sound quality goes...

what do you do ?

shauli.

Looks like you either have to change your embouchure (although you don't want it) or have to live with the pain (which you neither seem to like). See the discussinn of this in other threads.

If you have to support your embouchure that much that it hurts your lower lip, it is not a good embouchure.

I used to have a biting problem, and the pain/fatigue made it difficult to play the horn more than 4-5 hrs. in a day.

Instead of a quick fix (ezo, cigarette paper, or other teeth cushion), try to eliminate vertical jaw pressure. A brief break once an hour and relaxation throughout will make you feel like you can play all day/all night.

These things don't happen overnight. Constant awareness of and relief of vertical jaw pressure will help over time. Frequent breaks, however, will eliminate much fatigue immediately.
