This Antigua is listed as the 4554, with straight and curved necks
to top F# in gold lacquer with leathercloth hard case.
List price £480, available at £292 . I presume this is the 586?
If so seems like a good price.

I don't know, but don't jump too fast. It could be an earlier model, and they are not nearly as good as the current models. Make sure it has "YS" in the serial number to guarantee current models.

Hi James

I've seen these models advertised on a UK site.

I enquired of a distributor in the UK if they were the same as those sold on the American market and was told that they "correspond closely" to those marketed in the US. I presume that means that they are not the same.

That said, I dont know of any reports good, bad or indifferent about them.

Can anyone out there enlighten us?

554? hmmm.... never heard of that model before. I would try and get some high res pictures from them and then I can compare them and let you know what it really is.

This is NOT the 590 or 586.

I emailed Antigua - '4' is the UK prefix.

Therefore the 590 becomes the 4590 and so on....

I looked into this BIG TIME before nearly purchasing an older inferior model.

That's good to know.
I wonder if anyone over here in the UK has managed to get
hold of the latest models or do I have to go abroad to get one.
Most music shops i have contacted are either vague about
them or try and put me off them in favour of the more well known
brands.

I got mine from Modern Music in Basingstoke. Where are you ?

Get your local stockist to order in a 4590 from Stentors on approval and as mentioned, make sure the SN has YS in it. You are under no obligation to purchase, but you should expect to pay between £450 - £500 for the '4'590.

I'm down in Truro Cornwall, and the nearest dealer is in Devon
who don't keep sops in stock so would require a non returnable deposit
to have a go on one.

If I only knew someone down here with one because I would prefer to try one out first.
They don't seem to marketed very well in the UK. If they really are as good
as everyone on this forum says they would surely fly off the shelf.
