Sax Ball

Hi everybody, this is my first post here. I've been playing Alto for 4 years now, and 'played' clarinet and piano for 3 years before that. But as of today I am the proud owner of a fantastic The Martin Tenor Sax! Hurrah! I'm thoroughly impressed with the sax so far and am amazed at the differences between the alto and the tenor. At first I wasn't too impressed with the mouthpiece, but it suited the sax so I took it but now I really like the sound I'm getting. The only problem is that it almost feels closed :? . Any tips for helping my tenor playing. But it's still great and I love it :D

If you like the sound you are getting - but would like more volume go to a harder reed - and perhaps experiment with different reed mfrs.
A closed mpc will give you a more vintage sound - and since you are coming from alto will make the intonation less difficult to maintain.
I have a '57 Committee and get great sound from several diff mpc's - but the best sounding ones are all 6 or less with a fibracell 2.5 or 3.5.
Other than that - practice practice.
Good luck,
John
