Anyone had any dealings with Dave the junkdude? He seems to have a lot of vintage inventory. I'm planning on swapping out my Series II for a bright but easy blowing horn. My MVI is a little too mellow for some of the stuff we do.)

King Super 20--very bright and easy blowing, especially the later models.
Dave is well regarded in the sax community. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him.

Bought several FL ligs from him...prompt, courteous, fairly priced, no complaints here.

I've bought three Morgan mouthpieces from him, and would gladly do so again, if I had any money.

I purchased one of my favorite horns from him, and he bent over backwards (without my asking it of him) to please me. Dave is a great guy, and his tech did a fantastic setup on the horn as well. Two thumbs up from me.
I've bought 2 saxes, mouthpieces, and a case from Dave. He's easy to work with and has good prices on new items. When looking at his vintage horn prices I've found it wise to keep in mind that most of his horns need additional work.

I ORDERED A morgan protone through Dave. He had trouble getting them due to plant in La I am told. It has been over a month waiting. I am trying to get an update or refund. He has been out of touch. Last week or so.

Dave has a small shop and little help. If he's not responding it's usually because he's out of town or something. I've never heard of him not coming through on a problem. Hang in there.
When I've experienced a delay in response, I've always had better luck reaching him by phone.

Yes, phone is the best way. Ive had few who offer such excellent customer service. A straight up guy and a player. He will usually meet or beat competetor prices thus you can get a great product and support a small business as opposed to the walmarts of music. On top of that he is a very enjoyable individual to speak with.

Best dealer I have ever dealt with. He has sold me a bass sax and mouthpiece. Gave me a great trade deal and went out of his waz to help me in any way he could.

Last week or so.Hmmm, you posted on 8/7/05 (http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=26205) in the wanted/ for sale area that you wanted to buy a used one. I sent you a pm on 8/9, and posted 2 follow up messages. No reply whatsoever- not a polite 'I'm not interested' or even a rude 'bugger off'. I imagine Dave will offer better communication than that.
By the way - did you e-mail, or call him? He has been known to be too busy to repond to e-mails, yet, every time I have called he has picked up the phone....

He's a great guy, don't hesitate to call him. In the spirit of the market, also don't hesitate to barter.

Dave is a great guy to deal with. In addition, I'm not certain who does his repair work, but my 1947 The Martin Committee I bought from him had one of the best repad jobs I've ever seen. I had him repad the horn before I bought it, and the horn arrived in perfect adjustment. Does anyone know who his repair tech is, or does Dave do the work himself?
