I recently got a Buescher 400 S-25 361xxx just after the top hat & cane engraving. I am totally blown away by the versatility and sound of this horn. I'm using a Selmer goldentone C* which seems to work just fine. The intonation is dead on and I'm strictly a beginner on sax though I've played guitar for 40yrs. Man these are the best deal going, a friend of mine has a Selmer Balanced action and he can't seem to play it in tune, I'm afraid to let him play mine. It'll hurt his feelings. :) It has some reddish discoloration, is there any way to get rid of that?
Thanks,
Baze

basil b. Welcome to the Post TH&C club. I got my 400 tenor new in my freshman year in high school, 1961. It's got a big brassy sound and pretty easy action, except for the left pinky keys, of course.
The finish on my 400 developed tiny rust spots after a few years. I've never tried to do anything about it because I'm afraid that the solution would be worse than the problem.
Enjoy your horn.

Gregg,
That's part of the aged look!
My S-5 has a little bit of rust that has formed over the years. I just try to keep the horn wiped down and polished with Lemon Pledge (on a rag). They are really nice horns.
