Looks like those saxophones are somehow undermined by their very limited distribution.
Are they available only through Saxalley and Junkdude?
Other question: seems that Gary Sugal is working with P.Mauriat towards improved versions of the current line. Does anybody know whether is true or not?
I am planning to buy a P.Mauriat 66 or 66R tenor and I am somehow undecided whether I should wait for the Sugal version and/or perhaps a wider distribution which may lower the prices.

Chuck's Music in Brookfield CT sells them. I saw an alto and a tenor in the shop a few weeks ago and Chuck has a bari coming in that's he's trying to sell to me. Phone is 203-775-3735.

My dealer, who is also a friend of mine can get them. That is where I got mine (now Randall's). His price on a 66R would be significantly less than the other sellers. He's been in business 40+ years, has no overhead, and a very small margin.
Let me know if you are interested. The store is Alabama Music Center in Birmingham, and their number is 205-879-9191. His name is George Prewett. They are closed for a week's vacation right now, but he'll be back on the 14th.
I usually handle his internet sales for him, so PM me if you want some info.
I haven't heard of Sugal working with the P. Mauriat folks on a model, but that wouldn't interest me anyway.

I haven't heard anything about Sugal being involved, but I'll ask Tim, I'm going to see him next Monday.
As far as waiting, I wouldn't personally, the prices have gone up about $200 since I bought mine (in December, right before the price increase), and I know that at least Tim at SaxAlley can't keep them in stock. I wouldn't be surprised if they went up another few hundred at the end of this year.

Here is the link to the page reporting Sugal working with P.Mauriat:

A few weeks ago I also saw on Ebay a P.Mauriat tenor with matte finish being sold by Sugal (claimed it was handpicked among several).
Anyways, as Sigmund implies, not necessarily his involvement will produce a better saxophone.
Morry, I am sending you a PM. I regret I did not get yours when you were selling it....

Two of the local stores near hear carry them. The issue is set up. I sent my to Sax Alley for the new horn set up and it was worth it.

If you have your heart set on one, I'd be patient and wait till the honeymoon is over... then pick one up on Ebay at a substantially reduced price. If I had my heart set on one...

I'm really curious about these horns but haven't had the opportunity to try one out. Does anyone know if Mauriat has a dealer in the Dallas/Austin areas?
I'm a sucker for those finishes. And I've heard nothing but good things.

I don't know of anyone in the DFW area that sells them, but I've got an alto (non rolled tone holes) that you could play if you wanted to just check one out. PM or email me.

I talked with Tim Glessman last week for a while. He just got back from Taiwan. Given his extensive experience setting them up (and his long time association with Roger Greenburg), Tim was asked to give some advice on improving the sax at the factory. He was genuinely impressed with the way they are made.
I'm having a GAS attack for the 300DK bari. Tim's price, including setup, is a little (LOT) over my present budget. I'd have to sell my YBS-52 first. That would create too much heartache as I play it more than my tenor and alto. So, I'm going to have to wait until next spring for an infusion of cash.
Morry,
What price would your buddy charge for the 300DK bari?
