Let's all say a toast in honor of Don Myrick, the section leader of the Phenix Horns, Esquire (EWF's original horn section). Today would have been his 57th birthday.

Some of his most famous sax solos include Phil Collins's "One More Night,"the live recording of "Reasons" featured on EWF's Gratitude album, and EWF's "After the Love is Gone" from the album I AM. He is also responsible for the alto sax solo on the original studio recording of Ramsey Lewis's "Sun Goddess".

Thanks for the inspiration and memories, Don.

clay- good one. I think about Don a lot.A fantastic soul, and someone who had more to offer than we ever heard.

You might enjoy, the group pre-EWF..called " The Pharoahs".Which Don was in.

I had the pleasure of knowing Don thru gigs he did ,at times, with organist Jack McDuff when I was on the band.I smile when I think of him, and think of him often. What a terrible loss. I learned so much from him.WOW-he really had a style-and-huge soul.

What a great great guy,and player.

DON MYRICK IS ONE OF THE MASTERS.BLESSING TO HIM. :)
