I know sarge at worldwidesax raved over a Luxor he restored, and I was wondering if this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=23298&item=2528102 697&rd=1 was from the same stable. This seems to be Romanian rather than German (which doesn't sound promising) and while there are differences from sarge's tenor, there are also similarities. Any thoughts out there?

It is seems to me this alto is the Romanian clone (it has an inscription "Romania"). I have tenor Luxor (and earlier I had an alto), similar to a saxophone which repaired Sarge. Good saxophones. 8)

I have one of the romanian luxor altos. I bought it on Ebay and I am in the process of repadding/recorking. The sax looks promising, well made and thought out. I laid it out next to my new king alto and the body looks very similar. I'd say it's related to or heavily influenced by the keilwerth family of intruments. Many of the keys seem to be interchangable with my new king.

that's the same as mine except mine says Romanian. Nice looking horn but I cannot get mine to play in tune. It is extremely flat in the lower register and sharp in the high register.

I want to find out opinion of owners Luxor about pads on their saxophones. Earlier I had two tenors. On first I have put pads with metal resonators (Selmer Super 80 style), on the second saxophone - pads with rivets. But it is seems to me saxophones with original pads (without resonators) sounded better.
I shall be grateful to all for your opinion.

Mine has selmer type resos. Its sound has almost a fuzz to it a pretty sounding sax in my opinion.

What mouthpieces is everyone using. I'm wondering if a different piece might improve intonation.
