This horn is absolutely wonderful. I play an Earth Tone tenor.

It's incredibly dark, and great for jazz and classical. The keywork is amazingly balanced and it plays like butter.

Dave Guardala went out of business awhile ago. This horn is now being emulated by B&S Codera, and being sold by LA Sax under the name of "Chicago Jazz Series." I've heard mixed reports on the LA Sax Earth Tone. Some say that the soul of the horn remains the same, and others don't. However, most agree that the keywork isn't as nice and the appearance is much cheaper.

The Guardala Earth Tone has amazing aesthetics. Your best bet will be to keep a real close eye on eBay!

Good luck :)

Guardala did not go out of business. They cut their distribution ties with LA Sax, that is all. Rumor has it, we should be seeing new Guardala product soon.
