Is it unusual to be able to play G3 perfectly fine very full and in tune and not be able to play any other altissimo notes at all. WHATS WRONG

Always the same question, go and see a teacher in your local area and see if they can help you out. They should be able to give a lot of good pointers once they see youin person.

The G3 and D4 is the easiest to hit for altissimo notes. It's normal.

I had a REALLY hard time with G3, D4, and A3 were the easiest. :D

I think G3 is one of the more difficult ones to control. If you tighten up and blow too hard you'll get D4 or C#4. G3 takes a very specific amount of air and throat opening. I found A3 & F#3 to be the easiest. Those are good ones to start with.

I have been able to play G3 for 3 weeks now on a Ref54 but I can not get any other notes at all in altissimo register except F#3, I can control the G3 very well, i don't know what the problem is.

Part of the problem could be that your trying to hit G#3 and above like you hit G3. On my Ref54, all the fingerings i use for G#3 and above are hit on an overtone series. The notes should literally pop out without any tightening up. The G3 i use isn't an overtone fingering, its actually forming the note like F#3 and down unlike G#3 and up. This may be hard to understand because i might not be explaining it well, but maybe you need to approach these notes a different way, and just let the notes pop out. Try 23 4 side Bb, for G#3, and 23 456, for A3. The notes should just pop out with little tension. Hope this helps any

what do you mean by "tension"

Tension means no tightening of the embouchure, the shoulders and or neck which translates to problems in the hands and wrists later too. Use air support and pitch the note in your head before you play it. If you can't hear the note in your head then it wont play.

I sometimes have the same problem. Usually my lip is too strong to play those notes. Try using a fibracell reed.
