i got a sopranino from TopSax on ebay (got it off ebay) what a nice guy to deal with. its called Gulf, and its made in taiwan. it is very heavy for its size. the stock mouthpiece was crap for me, looked like it was melted. i just got the rovner sopranino ligiture, and today got my yani 5 and selmer c** to try out.

The yani 5 was not the best for me. it was hard to play. the C** was actually really awesome. they both look almost identical inside the camber.

i thought i would tell. im happy with the setup and now im trying to get use to this little bad boy.

Let us know if there are any problems with it, like intonation or cohesion (not falling apart), things like that.

How much did it cost?

I have had several dealings with this guy as well. VERY nice, fast service, and he goes the extra mile. I have a saxello... very solidly built and pretty heavy. Love the sound. I also bought a gold-plated Gulf alto sax from him about 6 months ago. I have a grocery store meat scales and I weighed it and my M series Selmer Paris Mark VII for comparison. The Topsax horn weighs MORE than the Selmer. Unusual for an Asian horn. They seem to have figured out that the world market wants quality and not crap. Something the other Asian factories seem to have trouble learning.

But to compare it one on one with my Selmer - I do prefer the Selmer.... but only slightly. Since I'm not really a pro player, the subtle improvement of the Selmer is not worth the difference in the pricetag.
