Anybody out there have any experience with the mics and preamps from K&K sound? I'm thinking about getting one of the Silver Bullets for my flute (playing with a latin percussion band)...

I have their saxophone mic and the trombone player in our band has a K and K mic too, a cheaper version than mine. We both bought them off of ebay, 99 for mine, and around 80 for the trombone player's mic. We are happy with their function and sound. My clip broke early on, but it's being held together with a rubber band; the trombone mic's wind screen ball keeps falling off. These are the only problems. Overall, for the price, we are very happy with these mics.

I have been using their saxophone mic for some years now and I love it. So do sound people.
The electronic circuit uses quite a lot of power. A 9V battery typically is used within three hours. In addition to that, the box where the battery goes into is difficult to open and to close (two small screws). In other words: use phantom power.
And yes, the small windshield frequently falls off.

the K&K mics are OK mics, but not great. If you want a REALLY good flute mic, check out the SD Systems mics. I have one for tenor sax and the sound quality is truly amazing.

Giganova,
Which model SD Systems mic are you using? Thanks!
Aargh.
I wish I'd have seen this thread last week!
I just bought one of their sax mics off of E-Bay
I didn't like using a Phantom power box, as
everytime I moved there was static in the PA, there
was something wrong with the phantom power box I guess,
& it doesn't help that our soundboard doesn't have phantom power.
Oh well, I guess I'll have to stock up on 9v batteries too!!
3hrs?
That's peanuts!!
