I have in my possession a 1910 F besson tenor saxophone and would like to know its value. I think the horn is a prototype. The inscription on the horn is as follows.

Not worth very much I wouldn't think, its more of a curiosity than a classic horn. See how it plays, I have heard recordings of Adolphe Sax horns from that period, but generally you won't find many people actually using anything from before the 1920's.

Besson was purchased by Selmer around 1933.

I agree with the value statement above.

Moving post from "misc." to the Selmer area!

i believe Besson was purchased by Boosey & Hawkes, not Selmer...
