Hey all

I've got a bit of an issue with my YAS-62II alto sax. When I'm playing a C# in the staff, its playing really flat. I have to press the D palm key in order to get the C# to come out in tune. In the higher octave, the C# plays only a hair out of tune. If your wondering, yes I'm using the new G1 neck alongside a Otto Link STM 8*. Its a brand new sax, so it could be that the keys havent "broken in" yet. My tech here said that the sax would need to be sent in to have the keys realigned after about a month because the keys havent really set into place yet. Does anybody have feedback on this?

My YAS 62 middle C# is also flat, which I think is typical on a lot of altos. The middle D is sharp...which is also typical. My friend plays a Selmer series II, and the C# is even flatter on it. So it goes...

You do want to check to see if the extra little key hole above your B finger is openning. Either a spring or dirty pad can leave that hole covered and will effect the middle C# a lot.
Don't know the specifics on the new 62 but a sticky pad does catch me off every now and then on my 875.

Thanks for your input saxboy, but the problem wasnt on that tone hole. After doing a side by side test with my old YAS-52, I found that the neck from that horn pretty much solved the problem (Still a bit flat, but the neck on that horn wasnt designed for my sax). When I put the G1 on the 52, it threw the tuning way off.

I'm sure you probably know about issues with that neck already. It is replacable if that is the issue. Contact your dealer of purchase and you can get a F1, M1 or a new G1 when they are available.

Yeah I just talked to the guys I bought the horn through. They were real helpful and ordered a revised G1 for me. I'm just glad there isnt a problem with the horn!
