I can hear the shocked responses already, so let me head them off right away; I know a neck pickup sucks for good sax sound, I used one years ago, but it works the best for running through effects pedals. I don't even remember what one I had, but I remember buying it in Manny's years ago, and doing the unthinkable, but it was a student-level horn. I want one again, but I'm going to install it on an aftermarket neck, not my precious SBA tenor. Does anyone today make a good neck pickup?
thanks

You talking about a drilled hole with a pic up in it? or was it a contact type mic?
Barcus Berry is my guess for either.
Good sounding?
I use the AT 35 clip and many guys here don't like the tone and key noise the clip brings. I used reed mics for pitch to midi from Barcus in the 80's and had a mounted headjoint mic for the flute for the same. I never found these mics ussable for the horn sound but they did feed signal faster to the midi converter. I have player an older Selmer that had a drilled neck and it did not sound much better.
The clip works best for me.
