Attention Brasswind players:
I'm looking for a black lacquer cornet. I have found black trumpets, but perfer the sound of a cornet to a trumpet. If anybody has seen one on the web -any make or model- please let me know. I would post in the marketplace, but that is really just for sax, and I know how the guys that I need to ask about this hang around here, so... Thanks

Bariman

Why don't you do it yourself? Get a normal cornet, strip the laquer, then hit it with spray laquer? It's much easier to re-finish brass instruments then saxophones because you don't have to take all the keys and you don't have to worry about knocking off felts and things. Just pop out the valves and unscrew the spit valves and you're ready to go- could do it in an afternoon.

(cornets rock, btw- I play mine with a flugelhorn mouthpiece. Sounds gorgeous. My trumpet player friends think I'm stupid.)

Of course don't buy those Indian junkers that are out there but if you ever find a cornet that you like. You can go here (http://www.musical-instrument-repair-shop.com) to this shop which offers black nickel plating.

Here's an example (http://www.musical-instrument-repair-shop.com/customerpics/cornets/rodakconndirectorcornet.jpg).
