Is there anyone out there playing or has played this horn? Can you please give me an idea on what to expect ? Just bought one and am having trouble finding any info on them. What would be a suitable mouthpiece to get?
thanks in advance and happy new year to all!

I haven't played one for over 30 years, but my impression at the time was that it was a quality horn that played similar to a Buffet. Malerne was known mainly for clarinets. as far as the mpc, you probably should start with a Selmer Short Shank type in a medium facing as that is similar to most of the french pieces of the era.

sorry for the late reply!
I have a malerne alto, sounds best with Runyon Custom or Morgan student mp. I find the small bore makes them a bright horn but the handle extremely well; nice table heights and fast action.
