I am about to mail-order a YAS82Z. However, I want to re-confirm:
These new Altos don't have the tuning problems, or do they?

Thanks,

B.

My understanding was that the G1 necks for alto were fine.

The G1 neck effects the the tuning on the altos as well. I tried three altos with the G1 neck and found major tuning problems on all three. My older custom alto with the M1 neck has no such problems. In fact the problems went away when i put my M1 neck on the new 62II. I would be very bareful buying any yamaha sax with the new G1 neck until it gets straightened out.

Sinkdrain-

You are right about the M1 neck correcting the intonation problem-at least that has been my observation on my tenor Z.

Thanks all for your input. I was about to mail order a YAS82Z, but it seems to be a gamble given the circumstances  . I will wait until they come to the dealers in town and try them myself before I buy; if I haven't found a good alternative until then :D .
