own this sax two years ago, this horn play quite well but not the 3rd octave c. when i play this note, i can feel that the air is note that smooth and the sound is smaller. is this normal? i always use the alternate fingering which is b + side c to get the big sound.
any thing can be adjust? why i dont have the luck to get a flawless horn :?

Do you play alto, I have noticed that high C tends to be stuffier on altos and sopranos for that matter.
The alternate side C helps, but in my opinion, its thinner sounding that the standard high C fingering.
I suggest:
1st get you horn checked for leaks.
2nd, do long tones on that note -- opening your throat to fatten the sound up.
If the above 2 things don't help,
Step you reed strength up a bit
If that doent help,
Try another mpc
Still no good,
It could be a dead spot in your horn
Most likely steps 1 or 2 will work though.

Ok, I just got a new YAS-475 a few weeks ago and I've found out that to play it takes more from my diaphram and air and more muscles from my mouth than my old Vito did, and I have a problem with getting my mid D out. I will squeek, or it will sound like high D. Plus, I have just switched from flute to Alto in school and I'm only 2nd chair, so I know I have to have a good tone and I have to be able to get any note out at any time, so how do i strengthen my embichoure, or whatever?! :?
