Can anyone tell me about the jazz and improvised music scene in Sapporo, Japan? I will be spending a year there and hope to make and hear some good music.

Can't really tell you much about it, but there's a jazz club named "Day By Day" (011-521-6635) between Susukino and Nakajima Park in Sapporo run by a jazz singer.
