I'm not in Toronto now but I used to be. Darned immigration caught me!

I'm absolutely positive I have no idea why I'm posting this.

I was born in Toronto in the post-war era - I don't remember which war - it was a long time ago and I was very young at the time. Postage was a lot less then, too. I posted this because ...
oh , d-mn, I forgot. Must go get another scotch - cheers, Merlin.
And thanks for the Runions cd- really neat things on there.

There is a Canada place to post, but of course, Torontonians don't really feel like their part of Canada, so they start their own spot. Ha! Just jesting and have enjoyed posing fun at Toronto ever since I left it in 71.

Merlin, I gather you were on Greg Runions last CD. I've still yet to hear it. Next time I see him I'll try to get a copy.

I've probably overstayed my welcome here since I'm not in Toronto. Wish I could have been there this week though for the Herbie Hancock concert. Hmmmmm....

Vincer; I haven't had the pleasure of making your acquaintence but I believe you've been gigging occasionally with some old friends. Ian Clyne, Dave Poulin; Craig Kennedy (the guitarist); John D'aoust; Pete Beaudoin, Dave Arthur, Brian Downey.

The boys tell me you're a very fine player and I look forward to hearing you some day. Tell them Flanny in Kingston says hi.

Hey, well as of last week I am now in Ottawa as well. Back for the summer.

Vince Rimbach! I love your playing. I've seen you a couple of times. Do you teach?

Tenorman - I played with Brian Downey for a little while, I also sat in with Stevens & Kennedy. Do you know Gary? Small world.
:D

anyone checking out the jazz festival going on now here?

I would, but im 18 and not 19 and all of the clubs im interested in checking out won't let me in, so I'm stuck here, angry and irritable because of the stupid smoke/alchohol laws that are depriving me of great music. 10 months to go :(

Which festival? There's like a bagizillion festivals going on..but yeah. I can't get into the clubs either. Pfft this is music deprivation..haha. Oh well. Better luck next year.

I guess i was talking about the main whatsits which is encompassing most of the things going on? http://www.tojazz.com/ - how old are you?

Well I guess not all the great music is restricted to the clubs/bars and such. I find just walking around downtown, you'll hear a tune you like and 'follow your ears'..haha. And sometimes the guys at the door are nice and they'll let you in even though you're underage...well I was with some of my older friends anyway, so by the time they got to me they didn't really bother to check. Plus I look older than I actually am...15 in a month or so. 8)

Alex;

I'm not sure about Gary, but I did spend some time touring with Craig Kennedy, guitarist of S & K Band.

Hey tenorman.
Gary is S&K's bari player. I don't know Craig too well, but he can play :)

I not from Toronto, but I used to work there. I'm from Ottawa, but I live in England. Whew.

I also used to live in Saskatchewan but that's another story. All this history is making me feel quite faint, I think I must now go and play.

I was born in Montreal, then lived in Toronto, and now in Ottawa since '92. Playing drums the whole time, but also bari sax from '94 to '97 (even did a few gigs where I played both!). Having sold the Yamaha I'm now back into sax with my newly-acquired True Tone bari, and lovin' it!

Don't know why I'm posting here either. Wait, yes I do! But I'm not telling... 8-)
