Come on guys, is it all about Selmers?

Selmers are good but the Steve Goodson horns take the cake.

I'm morally offended that King/HN White didn't make the primary list...Super 20's and early Zephyrs are REAL HORNS!!

Yeah, you gotta get King on there, although my vote goes to Buescher. However, it's very hard to say one is better than the other....great horns exist in all those catagories.

My fav sax? That's a really hard Q.

or not? Because of my great SBA tenor my vote goes for Selmer.
Just like the majority of the people here.
But I am not so sure 'bout the MVI being the best sax ever, my 5 digit MVI alto is NOT as great a horn as my tenor.

Just noticed you don't list Martin either. So you got La Sax, Buffet, and Yamaha, but no Martin or King??

Although Selmer is my favorite, I too am taken aback that King and Martin aren't on the list; yet relative newcomers are....sigh...tsk, tsk. It's a truly sad state of affairs.

I cast my vote for Selmer.

The best overall sax on the planet is the JK Anniversary alto (mine is number 124). Of all my saxes, and I have a few, this is the one you'd have to kill me to get.

Buescher, Martin and Conn. All for different horns and different situations. I could never decide which was best so I bought one of each!

Looking at the voting results above, I find myself with the DOMINATE group. Those that like SELMER. :D

I love my Mark VI tenor! I want to be buried with it! My fantasy is to become such a great player that they endorse me and give me a full set of horns! It ought to be a law that all of the Selmers saxes come with their domed metal resonators. Sometimes I feel like they are spinning on the pads when I'm playing.

Across the board from student line to pro line it has to be YAMAHA

If I have to pick one, it would have to be the versatility of a Serie III Selmer. But I can't believe you left off The Martin.

I'm glad so many people are nutso over Selmer, because that means often equally good or BETTER saxophones are available at lower costs for me! Particularly true with Vintage horns rather than new ones, as you'd think if demand were so high for new Selmers that price would shoot up initially but then level off or lower as marginal costs of production decrease with each added horn produced.

I bought a 6M Conn alto (1934) for AUS$70 at a garage sale. Spent AUS$750 for repadding and adjustment. Bought a Selmer F with a 2 Rico. I love it. Intonation is excellent. Sound is clear and cool and certain. I was a pro 35 years ago and am returning to jazz age 58. Just bought a Dolnet tenor (1953) for AUS$800. Strong sound. Heavy, strongly built. Intonation good. Use a Otto florida #5 with 2.5 rico. OK at present but might try my Lelandais when ordered ligature arrives. $US=0.7$AUS.

I'd have to say Selmer. Me and my Mark VI have been buddies since 1965. Homey 8)

Out of the saxes I have played, including a Selmer or two, the sax I love the best is a nice old Buescher True Tone. I just love the way they feel, love the sound, and love the action. They make me happy. Think I'll play my "C" now.
