Well the NBC show Americas Most Talented Kid is commin to my town for auditions for next season. Do u think I should give it a shot, maybe play a lil In a Sentimental Mood? Im kinda afraid that if I got in theyd try an pull some funky Kenny G biznass on me or somthin. Any tips or stuff you guys have? thanks!

judging by what i saw just now on tv, it was absolytely horrible, so you should not hessitate to give it a shot, although nearly all the kids were singing. some were hilariously ear splitting, and some were - meh - you know - pretty bad. Even if you aren't all that good, give it a try.

yeh well If I do it Im not sure what Ill play. If I wanted to play what I wanted, Id play a ballad. But their probably looking for something more up- beat or recognizable. But I got to represent, and I dont front, So Ill play what i want. But I guess Ill have to use a Jamey Aebersold playalong.

Dippledorp- Unless you're a soul singer that can really emotionalize an audience, ballads don't usually even make it to the stage. I would think you definitely need something with a lot of energy. This is not a personal preference, just the voice of experience having been personally involved in world-wide talent shows for several years.

Also, the Aebersold play-alongs are too long, I would think. You would need to edit it down to a shorter time. And remember, the judges and audience don't want to listen to five minutes of improvisation; the tune, one chorus (maybe two) the tune and out. I would look for recorded backgrounds that are more in this format, like the "Guest Spot" series.

Good luck and have fun!

Just play loud, over-dramatic/exaggerate and wear a funny hat. :D

LO(double)L ! It's twooo, it's twooo.

In one talent show I did, the guy who won his category was dressed like a snuff can and won by singing "I'm a Skol maaayaaan: Da dat da daa, Dah dat da daa".

You really think he's gonna reply based on the fact that his last post was in June '05? :D You're not going to start dredging up these ancient posts again are you?!?

Listen to me and listen carefully! What ever you do do not and I repeat do not play a ballad! Avoid playing unknown slow tempo ballads. Try some Funk or Blues or Pop Rock whatever just make sure it has alot of energy.

Why should you listen to me? Well let me tell you why. A friend of mine and I were in this talent show, winner takes $500. People were dancing salsa and rapping and singing and when we came up, we played a slow song who nobody knows, and the keyboard volume was too low, and I was so nervous and after that song was done all your heard was silence. Well actually two people cheered, I beileive it was our parents.
