Hi all. I keep reading about the 2001 tenors having adjustable palm keys. My 2001 (bought used, but mint), definitely doesn't have them. Not a problem for me and I don't think I'd adjust them anyway, but what gives?

Mike,
The adjustable palm keys is actually an Option that was available on the 2001's and is actually still an option on their Medusa lines as well.
Typically, the USA distributor for years only brough the B&S horns in with the adjustable palm keys.
Personally, I prefer the way the non adjustable versions feel.

I bought a sandblast Medusa alto from Randall and it doesn't have the adjustable left palm keys, nor does it have the Medusa engraving on the neck. Are the adjustable palm keys optional on all Medusas, or did the early Medusas not have them?

Adjustable Palm keys have been an option on ALL B&S saxophones since the 2001. So yes, it is an Option on the Medusa. We have received both 2001 & Medusa horns with adjustable and non-adjustable palm keys.

Rob, my Medusa tenor doesn't have the adjustable palm keys either. I didn't know it was an option at the time I ordered, or I would have requested them too.
However, it is not big deal for my hands without them...just a nice little extra.
Al the B&S, Guardala horns I have seen didn't have them either...but I did see them on a Codera alto once.

Looking at the palm key close-up photos on Dave's website, I'm not so sure the adjustable palm keys would have felt any better or worse than those without. I jnow that the non-adjustable keys feel just fine to me. I was just curious about the difference.

I was just surprised not to have them - I didn't know it was an option. I'm not sure why I would change them from what they are now - very comfortable for my hands and easy to play. Not a problem for me, I was just curious and now I know the answer! THanks.
