Hello,

I just bought a like new Series III matte finish and have found that higher baffle pieces seem to be working beter. I am currently playing a Lakey 7*3 with Rico Jazz Select 2H reeds and getting a nice full tone. The sound doesn't have the spread of my Series II, but it is fuller and projects better. Nicer in the low end than I thought. I have only tried a few set-ups and was wondering what you all play on your Series III? Thanks.

Forgot to mention that it is an alto.

For classical, Selmer metal classic C** or Vandoren A28, for a bit more drive I use a Vandoren V16 A6S. Both of these work really well for me. I have also dabbled with a Jody Jazz and a Yanagisawa 5 HR (bit darker than the Vandoren A28), a Buffet Jazz and a Beechler Bellite 7 - this last two were a bit bright for me, but all of them 'worked'. I think, rather like a Mark VI, my III alto seems mouthpiece friendly, which is nice.

I'm currently playing a Yanagisawa #5 & #7 metal mouthpiece with Rico Jazz Selects 2M "Filed" on my Polished Matte finished alto [not the brushed finish]. I've tried the "old standard" Meyer 5M, but I don't get the response -- top to bottom -- like I do with the metal Yanagisawa mpc.

I am using a SS sololist B* on a Series II though.....but I am waiting for the Mark VI to come back.....
