Is there anywhere (or anyone) that can give me information, feedback, etc. on this horn? Just got one and want to know more about it. Thanks.

If your looking for feedback on how this horn is rated, you should of asked 'before' you bought it. Good luck with it. Joe.

Actually, this horn has a great sound and is in great shape for the price ($200) and I think with a little work will be a good horn to get me back into the swing (I haven't played in about 15 years). I will have it looked at by a pro and would appreciate any information on it such as things to avoid, construction, mpc's, etc.

$200? I'd love to know where you got one for such a low price!
I think the new Bueschers are a pretty decent intermediate level horn. Several on this board have had sucess with the other BU series horns like the BU3 sop and BU6 bari.

Private sale. A friend of a friend knew I was looking and hooked me up. It's a little roughed up but no dents and it needs a better cleaning and tune up than I was able to do. Do you know anyone who has info on the BU-5? I like the horn so far and want to know as much as I can.

It's a modern Taiwanese made horn (Series II copy), and it's distributed by Selmer USA under the Buescher name. However, it's not a "real" Buescher.
As I said, several pros on this board have had good experiences with the "new" Buescher products, so once your tech gets this horn back up to speed, you should be pretty happy with it. Until your GAS flares up again, and you start itching to spend some money.

I have been enjoying myself so it may not be long. Thanks for the info, Andres.

Hi:
I'm looking into buying a brand new one. I too haven't played in a few years and think it might be a good "transition-back" model.
What do you think? I've looked into Jupiters as well, heard anything about them?
I'm a student and my budget is $1000US
Thanks,
Jon

The Bu5 is actually great at playing. I myself have a new one. i have one into a few problesm though. minor ones like a loose cork but thats easy to fix. Plays very well. It would probably be a great transition back.

Man when those things were first coming out our Selmer rep brought in a few saxs, flutes, clars, trumpets I think too, but its been awhile. Anyhow, they seemed just like most modern stencils, played ok, but with little soul. Not to soft, but soft, and nothing to get excited about. I would much rather buy a The Martin, Buescher Arist., or King Zepher for the same money, and have a truely great horn, instead of a just for now horn, although they are a good buy at 200. as long as you aren't out 200 when you go to but a more advanced instrument. They are really just student horns, won't hold a candle to a well adjusted yas23 though. Not even in the same ball park.
