pip: I recall this grade thing being asked/mentioned before and one poster replied that it is a system used for students (was it outside the USA?). Please remember that not all of us are kids who live where you do and know anything about a GRADE ONE. I have no knowledge of what you are asking about - and I doubt that many others do, either. DAVE
ok thanks dave. sorry to ask such a poitless quetion :!: i feel so stupid :!: il try not to post anymore stupid posts like this one :!: sorry :(

pip: There are no stupid questions, but often, new SOTW posters fail to do proper research and/or do not clearly articulate what they need to know. Had you posted in the beginners' section AND explained yourself more clearly, maybe someone on SOTW could easily answer your question. Please be more careful about how you construct your posts and we can all get along (as they say . . .). Welcome aboard. DAVE
ok thanks again. i will use the beegginers section of the site but iam just getting to know the site. thank-you for your patience.

pip, this is a good source for international confusion.
In the U.K. and in many other countries there is a system of grades examinations on a vriety of musical instruments. These examinations are run by a number of different "Examining boards" a good example is the ABRSM (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). They have examinations from grade 1 to grade 8. There are also "Trinity", "Guildhall" and in Australia, AMEB. ALl broadly similar.
Here are the notes for ABRSM graded exams.

Pip, off topic but only a little, it can be a big help to put something the the "location" part of your profile. This site is used by people all around the world - there is a huge difference between grade eight in England and eighth grade in the USA.
The man who owns and runs this site is based in Finland. I don't know how he keeps track of it all.
ok. sorry again il go and sort my profile out. sorry to be so annoying. thank-you for your advice. SORRY :(
